It’s better late than never

Ihave known Medium since 2020, i recognize it’s way too late when people have been using it much longer and producing a lot of writings, but one thing for sure “it’s better late than never”.

Medium has improved my reading habits, i found a lot of writings that can motivate me to be more productive and creative until i’ve arrived at the phase where my desire to write is getting bigger even though it seems like the preps i carry are still not enough, but let my mind does its job to bring my fingers anywhere.

When it comes to write something, i often find it difficult to determine what topic i should bring up so that it can attract people to read comfortably and also determine what kind of language style is good so that it has a character.

I will start this journey from the introduction, i don’t know whether an introduction is matter or not for someone when starting a writing, but let me fill this blank a cup of tea a little bit.

I am a woman who has a lot of fear over the uncertainty of this life, about the future that i will face and the life after death. However, i’m sure i’m not the one who feels it myself, i am currently in my 20s, the age where it seems like someone at my age feels the same way or it can be called as the Quarter Life Crisis.

As mentioned by The Muse that a “Quarter Life Crisis is a period of intense soul searching and stress occurring in your mid 20s to early 30s”. So my opinion of people who experience this phase is normal. But this shouldn’t be last long, because it will only cause bad for our mental health, such as prolonged loss of self-confidence. The best solution is to fight it with our self-potential and believe that this phase will pass. In this writing, i will share a few of my basic but effective experiences in fighting the Quarter Life Crisis:

1.Find out what you really want

By finding out what you really want and need is the way how you will find yourself again after getting lost and trapped in the phase of Quarter Life Crisis. I usually write in a notebook about myself-potential and insert positive words that actually can motivate and strengthen me. It effectively gave me positive vibes because “i am what i think”.

2. Stop comparing yourself to others

The current digital era makes it easy for us to see the lives of others through social media, in which i consider it as a “window” and sometimes it can be harsh for our lives. Believe it and realize it or not, the more time we spend peeking at the window of others, the more we will compare ourselves with them, we will look down to ourselves and what worst is we can lose our self-esteem. So if you are trapped in the phase of Quarter Life Crisis, stay away from anything that only provide you a gap to compare yourself with others. Stop wasting your priceless time on that and value yourself.

3. Self Love

As Brain & Behavior said, “Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth”. So, loving yourself is a vital thing and cannot be separated as humans live side by side with other creatures. Loving ourselves means that we are fully responsible for our own happiness, it can be started by always thinking positively, believing that nothing is perfect and not forgetting to maintain a healthy body by adopting a healthy lifestyle and getting enough rest. At the end of the day, give yourself rewards, it doesn’t have to be fancy, it can be anything that makes you happy and feel alive such as a piece of pizza.

In conclusion, adulthood can be challenging and peculiar at the same time. Although, it must be bear in your mind that life is not a competition to be conquered, it’s not about who is the fastest to run to the finish line, it’s about how we can feel content with ourselves, because everyone has different routes and destinations. Keep yourself in the process of healing, don’t lose hope and stay focused on your life goals, it will worth striving for.
